ABOUT THE POSITION

We are currently seeking a dynamic Triage Consultant Non-Licensed I or Licensed I/Peer Support  to join our team at our office in Chesapeake, VA, Arlington, VA or Bellevue, WA.  The Triage Consultant Non-Licensed I or Licensed I/Peer Support will provide assistance, services, resource, referrals, and consultation on various Employee Assistance Programs and work/life issues to military service members and their families experiencing personal and other problems.  The TC1 demonstrates an ability to effectively handle and manage high risk calls with professionalism and in accordance with established protocol.  The TC1 will maintain the highest degree of sensitivity, compassion, and respect for service members and their families to ensure that Beacon Health Options remains free of any political bias and will ensure consistency or service regardless of installation, location or any other factor. This position must have prior Military experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Conducts comprehensive professional assessments of user’s need for core EAP and work/life services, which can include but are not limited to: childcare, parenting, eldercare, education, general research, short-term problem resolution, legal, financial, employment assistance, emotional well-being, relationships and communication, addiction disorders, health and wellness, work issues and other specialty and add-on services.
  2. Meets requirements for and acts as a mentor for new and less experience triage consultants.
  3. Meets or exceeds productivity standards.
  4. Acts as POC for the Supervisors.
  5. The role of the TC1 is multifaceted and requires strong clinical skills to execute tasks vital to ensuring excellent service to members and the safety and wellbeing of the call. The TC1 will be able to successfully:
    1. Deescalate callers, navigate resources, resolve complex concerns, assess and take action in crisis situations.

    2. Able to identify high risk cases and respond as indicated under direction of the supervisor.

    3. Perform call follow up and reporting as assigned.

  6. Maintain the highest degree of sensitivity, compassion and respect for service members and their families and ensure that Beacon Health Options remains free of any political bias. Ensure consistency of service regardless of installation, location or any other factor.

  7. Documents all cases into the Case Management System.

  8. Monitors all research, referrals and additional materials sent to users/customers.

  9. Take on special projects, as requested, based on business needs.

  10. Demonstrates better than average understanding of military culture and addresses service members by their rank, thanks service member and their families for their service, and has excellent empathic listening skills paired with appropriate clinical interventions.

  11. Follows established protocols and completes all annual compliance requirements such as ECA (external certification authority) renewal as well as annual trainings such as Cyber Awareness and PII to ensure access to the government CMS system is maintained.

  12. May be called on to perform other duties and other responsibilities related to the engagement center activities in order to maintain critical processes and programs under the direction of existing policies and procedures.

Position Requirements:

  • Education:   Master’s degree in Social Work or other human services field required.

  • Licensure:  Triage Consultant Licensed I:   State License to practice independently (e.g. LCSW,  LPC, LMFT).  

                       Triage Consultant Non-Licensed I:  None

  • Relevant Work Experience:  Must have prior Military experience. Minimum three (3) years related, post graduate work experience, preferably in an EAP setting. Diverse experience in counseling, social work on mental health services, EAP and substance abuse experience. Knowledge of mandated procedures for child or elder abuse situations. Knowledge and experience in core service areas of child development, parenting, adoption, education and service for older adults.
