About The Position:

The Business Analyst III will respond to the ongoing reporting needs of Military OneSource and other federal contracts, as needed, to include the delivery of assigned reports in a timely and accurate manner and provide oversight and project management skills to junior level analysts.  In addition, the Business Analyst III should possess an ability to provide systematic and data related support to Military OneSource and other federal contracts. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop reports, reference tables and/or data marts in accordance with the guidance provided by the Director of Reporting e.  This is to include full and accurate documentation of all required elements and criteria, and the validation of the end product to ensure intended results are being achieved.  Assist Business Systems Analyst II with learning this process.
  • Function as the liaison (primary) between the Reporting team and the Director; the liaison (secondary to Director) between the Reporting team and Military OneSource, or other federal contracts, as needed.  This will include being able to perform root cause analysis, and make informed recommendations for efficient and effective approaches to completing projects/tasks and responding to requests for explanation of variances, data anomalies and constituent data.
  • Research, develop, analyze and deliver timely and accurate periodic and ad hoc reports that meet the agreed upon threshold for timely measurement.  
  • Function as the lead for project implementations to include new development initiatives, client implementations, and program enhancements.  This requires working on complex data acquisition methods and report designs where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors and an understanding of the major milestones required to move a project from inception to completion. Requires an ability to develop and follow a project plan, while keeping all resources on-track and up to speed.
  • Effectively communicate progress and status of requests to team leadership, federal program management and client for fostering good relationships.
  • Act as a mentor to Business Systems Analysts.  This includes assisting with training activities and providing day-to day project/task guidance.
  • Ensure that direct supervisor is made aware of the status of each project/task and informed when the team encounters obstacles and/or deliverables are at risk.
  • Maintain exposure to and proficiency of reporting processes and skillsets including but not limited to programming languages, and will apply wide-ranging experience and knowledge of professional concepts to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. Guide implementation of new reporting processes to support operational changes
  • Identify opportunities to leverage technologies in areas that improve and enhance reporting business practices by designing and implementing process enhancements. Works with/liaison to customers and end-users, appropriate IT personnel and software vendors on a regular basis to align technology functionality to operational processes. Facilitate project implementations related to reporting processes.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the field of Information Technology; or a degree in Accounting or Business with four years of experience in an analytical programming environment with SQL and/or MySQL experience  
  • Relevant Work Experience: Extensive proven experience in use of and querying from relational databases; Proven analytical skills, problem-solving ability and decision-making; Experience in analyzing and interpreting data using inferential statistics; Two to four years of diverse experience in data analysis, applied research, program evaluation or statistics in the social sciences; Team-building, negotiation and influence skills; Strong business and technical vision; Proven results-oriented person with a delivery focus; Excellent communication and presentation skills; Solid organization skills; Proficiency is using software and tools for data analysis and other office computing software applications (word processing/spreadsheet) is required.
