About the Position:

Beacon Health Options is currently seeking a Clinical Intake Specialist to join our Utilization Management team based in Boston, MA! The Intake Specialist will provide administrative support to behavioral health clinicians on the 24 hour Clinical Access Line. The incumbent manages incoming phone calls and website requests, collecting sufficient data to direct calls and make appropriate referrals; supports callers with multiple routine needs; enters authorizations to facilitate claims payment and when a medical necessity determination is not necessary; updates and tracks changes to departmental reports; and acts as liaison for remote employees with to help troubleshoot and resolve facility and technology related issues.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Distribute and accurate boarding report two (2) times daily, maintain mailbox and distribution lists, make follow-up call, update queues, communicate with regional teams and clinical management
  • Manage PFC, STU, and Prior Auth queues in Care Connect and Flexcare including checking inquiries for accuracy
  • Manage status of all boarding members and make calls to providers to insure bed placement status at all times.
  • Generate daily and weekly reports and complete miscellaneous tasks (Access Line phone Data report)
  • Maintain Acceess Line Sharepoint site with accurate information about In Network facilities and any changes that require updating.
  • Complete telephone assessments and referrals, gather demographics and information as necessary for routine and EAP referrals
  • Build authorizations for non clinical requests for Level of Care and Call back with Bed cases when determinations have been rendered by a clinician.
  • Assist with any reporting activities via data requests by management staff
  • Educate and train Providers on how to use Provider Connect telephonically and by site visits
  • Answer all Crisis calls immediately and warm transfer distressed Members to a Clinician
  • Maintain departmental productivity and performance standards
  • Provide daily administrative support as assigned by the Director of the Access Line

Position Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in a healthcare, social service, or related field required
  • Relevant Work Experience:  1 – 2 years’ experience working in a Behavioral Health Care field required
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
    • Ability to exercise good judgement and make appropriate decisions about when to involve a Care Manager 

    • Ability to self-manage and perform multiple tasks that require prioritization and accurate completion
    • Excellent organizational skill, communication skill, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
