Job Description


The Network Operations Team Lead is responsible for supporting Provider Data team members and overseeing the day to day workflow of the Networks Operations Representatives and for timely and accurate completion of provider file maintenance including, but not limited to, data entry of newly credentialed providers or out-of-network providers, change of address, rate changes, leave of absence and dis-enrollments. This individual works in several systems simultaneously, handling work queues in the provider, clinical and customer service applications, meeting or exceeding all established productivity and quality standards. The Network Operations Team Lead communicates with internal departments and providers via event, inquiry, and in written correspondence. The Network Operations Team Lead is a first escalation resource for Provider Data staff, providing mentoring, assistance, answering questions about policies and procedures, directing to resources and training on departmental processes. The Network Operations Team Lead, in conjunction with department management, identifies training needs for staff members, assists the department in reaching contractual, production and quality goals, and supports the organizational goals of process cycle times, customer service, efficient processes, organizational competency and value-added services to support Beacon’s provider network.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist with managing daily workflow of the Provider Data team.
  • Lead by example. Guide, support and advise junior members of the team.
  • Display a positive, constructive, and helpful demeanor to assist team members and offer suggestions that improve processes, culture or working environment.
  • Assist management with identifying opportunities for staff improvement, high- performing team members, and training needs of team members.
  • Provide technical assistance to team members.
  • Assign work to assure appropriate workloads and timely completion.
  • Using production and quality audit results, provide staff feedback and perform individual and group training as indicated.
  • Investigate potential issues prior to contacting the business system analysts for further research or resolution.
  • Analyze inquiry and silo report trends to proactively identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in process improvement workgroups
  • Support testing for systems modifications.
  • Provide training to new staff and remedial training to existing staff.
  • Input staff production into the production database
  • Develop and maintain tracking spreadsheets developed by request of Management.
  • Assist with developing and updating policies and procedures, workflows and training documents.
  • Collaborate with Network Operations, Network Development and other Beacon staff to resolve provider data issues.
  • Monitor data entry timeliness and make management aware in the event that timeliness standards are at risk.
  • Participate in client implementations and other special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with provider data management production as necessary.

Position Requirements:

Education: High School/GED diploma

Relevant Work Experience:

  • 2.5 years’ experience in insurance, medical, healthcare or related field required, including one year of credentialing experience.
  • One year of experience with Beacon’s systems, NetworkConnect, FlexCare or Raintree.
  • Experience as a Network Services Representative, performing to the production and quality standards of a Network Services Representative II for at least four months.
  • Strong leadership characteristics and ability.
  • Professional demeanor, strong written and oral communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to learn Beacon’s internal systems.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized and possessing problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage varying job pressures, and meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a production environment and meet production and quality goals.
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft office programs (Outlook, Word and Excel), Adobe PDF creator and internet searches. Experience working with fax machines, copiers and other office machines.
