About The Position:

The SVP of Strategy, Product & Innovation is responsible for developing and leading the process to develop Beacon’s strategy and supporting initiatives in order to achieve its top-line growth and financial objectives.  This includes execution company growth initiatives, market strategies, product development and innovation programs.  S/he will work closely with the senior leadership team to drive company-wide strategic initiatives and create market-responsive solutions for clients. 

This includes leading the department in the research, development and implementation of short- and long-term organizational objectives and strategic plans.  It also includes overseeing the end-to-end product development processes from initial product ideation, through business case development, detailed design, operationalization, and outcomes measurement.    It will also oversee the strategic development, piloting and scaling of new digital / technology initiatives and tools in support of Beacon’s product portfolio. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Beacon’s strategy development process in order to achieve company goals, partnering with the executive leadership team (ELT) and critical matrix partners.  Partner with Finance to ensure our three year financial plan supports the strategy. 
  • Ensure alignment of Beacon’s corporate strategy with clinical, network, operations, and technology three-year roadmaps.  Partner with Finance and the  PMO to ensure investments are aligned with three-year roadmaps. 
  • Lead refinement, ongoing evaluation and development of the Corporate Dashboard to measure progress toward annual and three-year objectives. 
  • Lead the strategy, product & innovation department in driving company strategic projects / initiatives from initial hypothesis generation through analysis and final recommendation.  Develop and evaluate new business opportunities, at both the local market and national levels.
  • Be a thought partner to Beacon’s senior leadership team and collaborate closely with other teams within Beacon, as well as Beacon’s external partners (e.g., customers, providers, vendors).
  • Use a data-driven approach to generate market insights including a mix of primary and secondary research to assess Beacon market opportunities, client needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends. Synthesize and communicate findings and recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders through written and oral means.
  • Evaluate merger and acquisition opportunities to further augment Beacon’s growth strategy.   This includes identification of partners to fill strategic gaps, execution of due diligence process, leading sales and purchase agreement process with legal and finance, and taking deal through Day 1 activity.  
  • Oversee the development of new products and services, enhancements and redesigns to existing products and lines of business based on market research and testing, feedback from our own sales and account services teams, competitive intelligence analysis, and political and legislative initiatives at the state and national levels. 
  • Identify and train on a product design and development methodology for Beacon Health Options, including product testing process and measurement. Lead cross-functional implementation process to ensure fidelity to the product design.
  • Oversee building of member and provider digital experience in support of Beacon’s growth strategy, ensuring that Beacon has a strong digital presence enabling increased access to care and services and ensures that Beacon delivers a differentiated, positive customer experience in support of our mission and strategic priorities.
  • Ensure technology solutions and partners meet Beacon’s standards and criteria around privacy and security. 
  • Provide motiving and inspiring leadership to department identified as strategic talent pipeline for company.  This includes frequent coaching and focus on professional development.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: MBA or other relevant Master’s level degree strongly preferred.

Relevant Work Experience:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years of work experience, with 5+ years of experience in a healthcare field. 3-5 years of experience in strategy, including developing new healthcare products and/ or clinical programs. Behavioral health experience is a plus, but not mandatory.  The candidate should have demonstrated success in developing, implementing, and/or running healthcare strategy, products and innovation programs.
