Beacon is current seeking a Substance Use Disorder - Regional Support Specialist to play a key role in assessing the behavioral health treatment needs of one of six specified regions in the state of CT. This position will require the incumbent to gather key information in partnership with Medicaid health care providers, including substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers, which will ultimately serve as the foundation for improving the quality of and access to behavioral health care for Medicaid beneficiaries in CT. He/she should have experience working for or directly with health care providers, and should demonstrate highly professional written, verbal and organizational skills for interacting with and supporting Medicaid’s provider partners.

Responsibilities:

  • With the support of an administrative assistant/coordinator, identify key community members and special populations for holding stakeholder groups and community conversations in the assigned region of the state. Gather, summarize and report qualitative feedback to the project Director based on these stakeholder discussions.
  • Work with leaders in behavioral health care in CT, including specialty providers, state partners, oversight councils, etc. and other staff to develop SUD Core Competency standards based on input from these key stakeholders.
  • In collaboration with Beacon’s Regional Network Managers, work with provider partners to complete a comprehensive survey assessing their services provided, capacity for treating individuals with Medicaid and SUD, availability of recovery support services, and competency in treating SUD. Also work with providers to promote the delivery of a member survey for members receiving SUD care from them.
  • Collect and organize survey data from providers, keeping close track of those providers who have completed all requested forms and surveys and outreaching proactively to those who have yet to do so. Appropriately use Beacon’s CONNECTS platform to note survey completion, competency assessment results, services provided, etc.
  • Collaborate with providers in assigned region to gauge their input on future developments in the SUD system of care, including telehealth services, systematic screening for SUD across levels of care, willingness to expand SUD treatment capacity, alternative payment methodologies, etc.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of social work/community outreach in Behavioral Healthcare and/or Social Services
  • Minimum of 3 years experience working with Substance Use Disorder populations
  • Direct experience working with State of CT Providers assisting with Substance Use Disorder
  • Experience providing training to Healthcare providers
  • Experience with data and quality improvement strategies
  • Strong interpersonal , communication and problem solving skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and work with all levels in the organization
  • Strong group presentation and public speaking skills
  • Team oriented, strong ability to collaborate and work with others
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Experience with MS Office i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
