Job Description

General Summary

The HR Specialist supports the daily human resources operations. The HR Specialist assists with developing and implementing HR processes, maintains and updates confidential employee files, and ensures compliance with mandated local, state and federal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports VP, Employee Relations and HR Risk & Compliance in all assigned areas
  • Manages all administrative aspects of leave and workers’ compensation claims to include working closely with Payroll and the outsource vendor to ensure that pay for employees is accurate and correct.
  • Follows standard operating procedures and document retention guideline to ensure the confidential administration and/or retention of employment records.
  • Partners with HRIS maintain data integrity and accuracy of personnel data stored in HR systems
  • Works to create and distribute dashboards and reporting on HR data including but not limited to leave management, exit surveys, ER case reporting, etc.
  • Leads the off-boarding process for all employee separations.
  • Manages employment poster vendor and posting process to ensure compliance.
  • Manages new hire and employee regulatory notification processes
  • Executes and assist with special projects or requests in support of Human Resources.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred​

Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience

3-5 years of experience in progressively responsible roles in human resources

  • 1-2 years of experience in the field of leave of absence (FMLA, STD) and workers’ compensation claims

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understanding of many facets of HR and their importance to meeting business objectives
  • Adapts well to change
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver results
  • Ability to navigate competing priorities within a growing organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation, organizational skills and time management
  • Strong focus on HR process and attention to detail.
