Job Description


We are currently seeking a dynamic Employee Assistance Professional (EAP) On-site Counselor working at our client’s worksite in San Diego.  The EAP On-site Counselor will provide brief counseling or assist members in accessing their mental health benefit when appropriate.  In addition, the EAP On-site Counselor works closely with the client to follow work performance referrals; case manages Drug Free Workplace programs, fitness for duty and threat assessment referrals. The EAP On-site Counselor conducts relocation interviews with families relocating internationally, and interacts with all levels of management to provide EAP orientations, management training and a variety of workshops to help promote the Employee Assistance Program.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides brief counseling on-site at site locations as assigned.
  • Refers into individual member benefit plans when clinically appropriate. Assures appropriate level of care and coordinates with the California Engagement Center as appropriate.
  • Case manages positive drug, work performance, threat of violence and fitness for duty referrals. Provides data  for reports.
  • Provides consultation and trainings to worksite representatives regarding management of troubled employees and other human resource and wellness topics.
  • Ensures continuity of patient care through contact with providers as needed.

Position Requirements:

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work or human services field.

Licensure:  Current, valid and unrestricted California license in a mental health field (LPC, LMFT, LCSW or PHD). Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) preferred.

Relevant Work Experience:   Clinical practice, verifiable previous experience with EAP, mental health and/or substance abuse treatment, Fitness for Duty training and management.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, business and technical skills.
